Course Offerings
Our lab members teach a variety of courses in fluid dynamics, aerodynamics, and computational methods.
- ME 480/680: Gas Dynamics
- ME 482/682: Aerodynamics
- ME 702: Computational Fluid Dynamics
Course Descriptions
ME 480/680: Gas Dynamics
Examines the basic concepts and theories associated with compressible fluid flow. Normal and oblique shocks, 1-D analysis, and method of characteristics discussed.
ME 482/682: Aerodynamics
Presents fluid flow concepts leading to the design of flow surfaces and passages to achieve optimum performance over the broadest range of significant parameters. Topics include lift/drag/momentum, low-speed airfoil analysis, finite wings, and supersonic airfoils.
ME 702: Computational Fluid Dynamics
Application of numerical methods to solve highly nonlinear equations of motion and energy associated with fluid dynamics. We will focus on finite difference methods. Other methods, including finite volume and finite element methods, will also be discussed.
