In October 2025, the Fluid Innovation Lab partnered with Nikkiso Cryo Inc. to build a turbomachinery test facility to study cavitation in the company’s LNG pump inducers.
MS student David Schmidt is working on the design and construction of the UNLV–Nikkiso test facility.
